After losing power for 6 days here in Jersey from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, I was forced to do things differently around the house; using candles, setting up LED flashlights, getting used to no tv or internet, and taking cold showers. I had to make do and wait patiently for the power to be restored and had a chance to slow things down. Gas lines were long (1/2 mile long??), there's no refrigeration (so either I cook all the food or toss it out) and I slept way earlier (it's boring to sit in the dark all night). After last night, I was getting stir crazy and was trying to figure out what my next step was... I had so many people offering their place to me to crash over, take a warm/hot shower and to just get my sanity back. I really appreciate the sentiment!
Thankfully, the power was restored this morning and I can live the normal life once again. I think this time around, I'll try to appreciate the "slowing down of life" more and be more prepared. (^-^)
